Rants Out - Paulsen In

We just had our first challenge and change in Republican leadership at the State House since the disaster of the 2008 election. Paulsen was able to knock off Rants for minority leader. Hopefully he will offer a winning strategy. He was Rants’ lieutenant last year – in challenging him, we have to assume Paulsen has an insider’s view of what needs to change.

Rants worked very hard for the House candidates and deserves credit for his dedication. At the same time, we need to look at his strategy and determine what worked and what didn't. Paulsen has his work cut out for him to get our guys back on track for regaining the majority but with all of our help, it is a very attainable goal.

The following is the new minority leadership in the Iowa House:

Whip: Linda Upmeyer

Assistant Leaders: Steve Lukan, Jodi Tymeson, Jeff Kaufmann, and Rod Roberts

Will today's events make it easier for McKinley to take out Wieck as minority leader in the Iowa Senate? We all know we need to change our ways and now is the time to take bold action and change the status quo.

If Paulsen wins he will get destroyed. Paulsen is from Linn County. Linn County Republicans constantly attack each other. Linn County Republicans spend more beating up on their own than going after Democrats. What a shame it would be if he wins. This just provides more fuel for the haters to continue their scorched earth policies on Republicans. Since they can’t win in Linn they feel the need to hurt the all Republicans.

Paulsen already won - hence the post. I think Republicans have a new found inclusive mentality now that we've gotten our asses kicked. Paulsen will do well - he has to.

I think it's Tymeson, there is no L in her name

Rants did an awesome job and there isn't anyone in the state that could do as well as he did. He was up against a democrat tidal wave.
